Reflection

After completing the Architectural Engineering Senior Thesis, I believe that I have gained enough experience and knowledge to allow me to succeed in my future career. The believe that the main focus of my thesis, and thesis in general, is to show students what the standard of work will be for them in the near future. In construction specifically, thesis has taught me to consider all the implications that project changes bring with them, not just the cost and schedule implications. While the cost and schedule changes are important, I believe the most important take-away from my time completing thesis was to examine the feasibility and constructability of the alternatives I proposed. For example, while I may have found that a prefabrication change saved the project both in costs and time, I found that the change would not be feasible as the current project structure did not support enhanced coordination and prefabrication. Overall, if I had to summarize thesis, it would be that thesis taught me not to be someone who can just run numbers on costs and schedule, but to be a valuable team member who can accurately asses potential implications of real life decisions which are made on any construction project.

Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work‐in progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Ryan Ward. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.
