Breadth Topics

Structural Breath

A structural breath will be completed during the analysis of the metal framing. By changing the framing system from wood to metal, there will be obvious structural changes as well. The structural analysis that will be completed is to determine the metal framing of a sample room as it is likely that the framing structure will change due to the structural differences between wood and metal.

Mechanical Breath

A mechanical breath can be completed during the analysis on “green” apartments. Analysis of the mechanical system will be completed in order to determine efficiency of the current mechanical system. This would include life cycle costs, energy costs, and energy efficiency calculations. After research is completed on owner investment costs, a second mechanical system will be selected in order to determine if there is a more effective and efficient system that could be implemented within the project.

Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work‐in progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Ryan Ward. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed.
